Moscow will not tolerate long-term occupation of any part of Syria, despite accepting Ankara’s military operation in the north of the country for now. Israel has also annexed large parts of southern Syria, such as the Golan Heights.

Since August 2016, Turkish forces have been conducting military operations in Syria as a NATO-member violating the Arab nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Russian president, Vladimir Putin announced that the Syrian government and armed opposition groups had reached an agreement on a nationwide ceasefire in Syria, and on readiness to start peace talks in Astana and later in February with the UN in Geneva.

Russia and Turkey serve as guarantors of the ceasefire deal, without the U.S. participating in the upcoming peace negotiations. The Americans and Israeli’s keep on arming the terrorists in Syria in a desperate attempt to oust Assad from power, in order to avoid being prosecuted for war crimes against humanity.
