Russia’s influence in Latin America has increased over the past years as a result of the NATO troops build up on Russia’s borders in Europe. Russia has now delivered dozens of tanks to Nicaragua.

Russia has also sold military weapons and artillery to Venezuela, Peru, Argentina and Ecuador, while strengthening economic relations with Mexico and Brazil.

Security experts believe that Russia has nearly 250 military personnel in Nicaragua, while Managua has given Russia permission to use and dock its warships @ Nicaraguan ports while patrolling the US backyard..
