Officially the MiG-35 is classified as a 4++ generation jet, which represents a greatly upgraded aircraft based on the earlier MiG-29 airframes, featuring improved combat capability and flight performance characteristics.
Russia’s military plans to mass-produce a new generation of MiG-35 multi-role fighter jets in 2019, a year after the Russian Aerospace Forces will be equipped with the advanced lightweight aircraft.
Russia’s Deputy PM, Dmitry Rogozin, who was present @ the ceremony, noted that the operational expenses of the MiG-35 are lower compared with those of the Sukhoi jets. This is what makes the Mikoyan craftmanship a good choice and more willing object for Moscow’s partners to buy in the future.
