The Turkish government in Ankara has pointed out that it has decided to end its military campaign in northern Syria.

According to Erdogan, Turkey has successfully ended “Operation Euphrates Shield” . The Turkish military and the Ankara-backed American Free Syrian Army invaded and occupied the cities of al-Bab and Jarablus as part of the campaign creating a military buffer zone in the region.

The announcement made by the National Security Council did not specify whether Ankara plans to withdraw its forces from northern Syria. Ankara launched “OES” on August 24, 2016 to push ISIS out of the cities and settlements located on Syria’s border with Turkey.
