DPRK’s Kim Jong-un and US President Donald Trump will discuss de-nuclearization in Singapore, as well as they will be initiating a “Permanent and Durable Peace-Keeping Mechanism” on the Korean Peninsula.
Trump will attempt to conduct a one-on-one meeting with the North Korean leader at the beginning of the historic summit. While admitting that dealing with North Korea was “going to be a process”, Trump said he believed the effort would ultimately be “successful”.
Earlier, Kim Yong-chol delivered a letter from the North Korean leader to Trump during their meeting at the Oval Office. Considered the North Korean leader’s right-hand man, Kim Yong-chol is the most senior official from Pyongyang to visit the USA in 18 years.
Kim Jong-un is reportedly accompanied by his foreign minister Ri Yong Ho, defense minister No Kwang Chol and sister Kim Yo Jong. According to South Korean media reports, the South Korean President Moon Jae-in has dispatched his senior officials to Singapore in a bid to aid the upcoming summit.
Earlier on Sunday, both Kim and Trump arrived in Singapore. The summit is scheduled to kick-off on Tuesday at 9 a.m. local time.
