Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the Russian General Staff, Col. Gen. Sergey Rudskoy said that so-called UN peace keeping forces are now accompanied by the Russian military police, while conducting the first patrol in the area of the Syria-Israel disengagement line on Golan Heights in six years.

The Russian Defense Ministry also said that it planned to deploy eight observing posts of the military police along the Syrian border with the Golan Heights.

The control over the security posts will be transferred to the Syrian government troops after the terrorist situation in the area has been stabilized.

Syria has been engulfed in a Western supported proxy war since 2011 with the government forces fighting against a number of foreign terrorist organizations. The Syrian government troops are currently conducting a major operation against opposition forces in the southwestern provinces of the country, which are adjacent to Israel and Jordan.

This was a smart move by Russia. By using their own forces as ‘peace keepers’, they were able to facilitate the liberation of the entire terrorist-occupied regions of Daraa and Quneitra without any significant Israeli obfuscation and aggression. However, their presence forestalls the possibility of a renewed Syrian-Israeli war

With the Idlib operation in the planning and negotiations with the Kurds, it’s looking like it’s only a matter of time before the Syrian Proxy War comes to an end. And even without the Golan Heights, that is a massive defeat of not only the Zionist Jihadists, but also Israel, the Zionist Gulf States, and the USA.

Russia wants less war in Syria, not more of it, and that smells a lot like victory for Syria.
