The US regime has imposed new restrictions on Venezuela, blocking its government assets and threatening anyone dealing with it with severe sanctions. The move prompted an angry reaction from Caracas.
The war-like embargo targets all Venezuela’s government assets in the USA, as well as sanctioning its official representatives, companies, and countries doing business with Caracas?
The announcement was reinforced by a barrage of threats issued by US National Terror Advisor John Bolton, who said “anyone” dealing with President Nicolas Maduro and his government will face severe punishment.
He also singled out Moscow, which has been engaged in economic and military cooperation with Venezuela for a long time.
Also, the US regime will not recognize any elections held in Venezuela as long as Maduro stays in power, Bolton warned, adding that countries, companies, and individuals must choose between doing business with Caracas or Washington.
The hostile move and rhetoric prompted an angry reaction in Caracas, which branded the US’ actions acts of“economic terrorism,”. Venezuela has the largest proven oil reserves in the world, but also holds very large deposits of other minerals, like gold.
That’s why Venezuela said the US’ decision is hardly surprising. The new sanctions only “formalize a criminal economic, financial, and commercial blockade that has already started with the IMF some years ago.
Relations between the USA regime and oil-rich Venezuela have not been smooth for the past two decades, after socialist Hugo Chavez broke oil exploration contracts with the US oil giants.
But over the past six months relations have seen them taking a nosedive, after USA puppet Juan Guaido, proclaimed himself the new ‘interim” president of Venezuela?
Washington and its allies rushed to recognize the self-styled ‘president’ as legitimate, but Guaido’s repeated violent attempts to install himself in the presidential palace have failed so far.
Russia, China, and many other countries have voiced their support and security for the elected Maduro government and have condemned the fascist attempts to push through the US-backed coup.
